Darjeeling town is strung out over a ridge, just a valley away from Sikkim. It still attracts traditional tourist for its well touted tea gardens and the old British Raj residual charms. Until beginning of the 18th century the area was under Sikkimese Raja. Then after the invasion of Gurkhas from Nepal, the British East India Company intervened and acquired concession of the area from the Raja of Sikkim to set up a sanitarium for its troops due to its favorable weather conditions. Development was rapid with Tea Garden and trade with Tibet and India.

Today, almost 50 years after the British regime, Darjeeling still flourishes with tea gardens and seasonal tourist and retains to this day the old charm and flavor of that "never ending Victoria era.

These treks climb steeply, for two days, to reach the Sandakphu- Phalut ridge at an altitude of 3600 meters. Enroute there are the lovely forest of the Sigelila national park and the view point of the Kanchendzonga range towering over a basin of silver firs and rhododendrons, in the fore ground. In the West at a distance of 160 kms, the peaks of the Everest Group are visible , while to the East lie the Chola Range, with passes leading to Tibet. The walk from Sandakphu to Phalut is gentle, through meadows, forest, wild flowers, and Himalayan flora, with the Mighty peaks always in the background . The knee wobbling descent to Rimbick is through forests, flora and mountain streams. Mar to may is best seasons for flora in bloom, whilst Oct-Dec are ideal for views

Day 01 Transfer from Darjeeling to Mane Bhangyang by car 2134mtrs. Change to 4WD jeep and drive to Gairebas, 2621 Mtrs for acclimatization halt overnight at trekkers hut.

Day 02 Drive by 4WD jeep to Sandakpu, 3636 mtrs short walk. O/N at trekkers hut. Day 03 Sandakphu: Full days trek along Phalut ridge & return Day 04 Trek down to Gortung, 2775mtrs 4 hrs. O/N Guest House. Day 05 Trek to Rimbik, 2286mtrs 5hrs. Transfer by jeep to Darjeeling 3 1/2 hrs

Day 01 Transfer Bagdogra to Maney Bhanjan 2134mtrs. Overnight at Guest house.
Day 02 Trek to Tumling Via Tonglu 3000 mtrs 3 hrs. O/N guest house.
Day 03 Trek through Singelela National Park to Garibas Trekkers hut 2621 mtrs 3 hrs (Short trek for acclimatization)
Day 04 Trek to Sandakphu trekkers hut 2636 mtrs 07hrs.
Day 05 3-4 hrs trek on 'Sandakphu-Phalut ridge, followed by trek down to Gurtom 2775 mtrs 4 hrs. Overnight at G.H.
Day 06 Trek to Rimbuk via Shrikhola 2286mtrs 5 hrs. Transfer by jeep to Darjeeling 3 1/2 hrs.

Darjeeling & Kalimpong Tour Extension Sikkim Day 01 Fly Kathmandu to Biratnagar or Bhadrapur Airport. On arrival at Biratnagar / Bhadrapur airpot meet assist and drive to Darjeeling ( 5 hours. O/N

Day 02 Darjeeling (2100m) AM: Visit Himalayan Zoo- Himalayan fauna in natural habitat, red panda, black bear, yaks and the famous show leopard/Himalayan Mountaineering institute and Museum of Everest Expedition / Tibetan self help center, training and sales Emporium of Tibetan handicrafts.
PM: Darjeeling - Pemayangste (102 kms 4 hrs drive) after lunch drive to Pemayangtse, west Sikkim, O/N
Day 03 Pemayangste (2085m)
AM: Visit Pemayangtse Monastery. This is a premier monastery of Sikkim built in the 17th century.
PM: A short walk to Sangabhholing Monastery (2 kms /45min) located on a hillock above the hotel. On a clear day the view of the mountain range is breathtaking. O/N
Day 04 Pemayangste - Gantok (1600 mts 117 kms/ 4 hrs)
AM: Drive through semi tropical forests, cardamom plantation and small villages to Gangtok., Once the capital of the Kingdom of Sikkim.
PM: Free. O/N
Day 05 Gangtok: Full Day Sightseeing.
AM: Visit Enchey Monastery, Deer Park, Givernment institure of cottage Industry, Dodrul Chorten, Research Institute of Tobetology.
PM: Visit Rumtek Monastery, situated 24 kms this magnificent monastery was built by the late Gyalwa Karmapa, the head of the Kagyu sect. O/N
Day 06 Gantok-Kalimpong (1588m/85kms 3 hrs)
AM: Drive along the Rangit river valley to Kalimpong.
PM: Visit flower nurseries / local monastery / handicraft center. O/N
Day 07 Kalimpong- Biratnagar (221kms 6 hrs)
Early morning drive to Biratnagar/Bhadrapur airport and check in for your flight to Kathmandu.

Accommodation on twin sharing basis as per Tour category (standard/Deluxe), full board meals, Ground transfers. Sightseeing as per Itinerary with English speaking guide, Entrance fees and permits. On Treks Camping Equipment consisting of Two men-tent & mattress, Freshly cooked meals, Dinning & Toilet tents, Ponies and trek staffs. A minimum of 2 person is required for obtaining permit to trek in Sikkim.

Fly from Kathmandu to Biratnagar /Bhadrapur (Nepal) and transfer by road or fly from Delhi /Calcutta to Bagdogra (India) and transfer by road. The other option would be to arrive by train from any part of India to New Jalpaiguri.

All foreigners intending to visit Darjeeling has to avail of an Indian visa which can be obtained at any Indian Embassy or Mission abroad. The inner state permit need not required to enter Darjeeling. However, For entry to Sikkim must required inner line visa which is also can be obtained along with the visa if client upon request.
