16 days Mustang trek
1st Day: Pokhara – Hile
From Pokhara to Nayapul, it takes about 1 ½ hour by driving. The road is reasonably good. At the place of Nayapul, within short walk, one can cross suspension bridge. After that, follows up bank of Modi River to Birethanti. From there mountain trail leads through bamboo forest and passes a large waterfall-summing hole.
The trail stays on the north bank of Bhurundi River to Bajagara. Beyond a pasture used by Pony caravans, the trail reaches Sudami then climbs steadily up through the valley reaching Hile (1495m). Walking time takes about 5 hours, overnight at camp.
2nd Day: Hile – Ghorepani
From the place of Hile, after a short walk the trail crosses a steam on suspension bridge and it leads the climb very steeply on a stone staircase. It continues steeply to the large village of Uleri at 2070m. From there one can see first eye catching mountain views of Annapurna south (7219m), Himchuli (6440m) and Fishtail (6996m). After these the trail leady through deep magnificent oak And Rhododendron forest to Ghorepani (2850m). Walking time takes about 7 hours over night at camp.
3rd day: Ghorepani – Tatopani
From the Ghorepani, trail descends almost through the several villages such as Chite (2350m), Sikha (1980m), Ghara (1700m), to Kali Gandaki River. After, crossing Kali Gandaki River through the suspension bridge and comes Tatopani (1190m). Walking time takes about 6 hours, overnight at camp.
4th Day: Tatopani – Ghasa
At the place of Tatopani, trail head up the Kali Gandaki gorge. It is said to be the deepest in the world from the heights of Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri. Between which it lays a tunnel and rocks trail brings Dana and the Hamlet with the picture of waterfall called Rupachhahara. From there ascends to Ghasa time takes approximately 6 hours, overnight at camp.
5th Day: Ghasa – Tukuche
After a step climb through forest arrives Lete khola and the cluster of buildings that the village of Lete. After 20 minutes walking arrives at place of Kalopani. From there, trail leads up through the bank of Kali Gandaki River and enters Tukuche. Walking time takes about 6 hours, overnight at camp.
6th Day: Tukuche – Kagbeni
After Tukuche, a dramatic changes in the vegetable from Pine and Onifer forest changes in the desert like country. The flow of air between the peak of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri creates strong winds. From there, trail leads flat through Marpha, Jomsom Eklaibhatti, reaches Kagbeni (2800m). Walking time takes about 6 hours, overnight at camp.
7th Day: Kagbeni – Chele
Actually, Kagbeni is the entry point to upper Mustang. From Kagbeni, trail leads up the east bank of Kali Gandaki and climbs over many ridges as it head north. After, that, through the interesting cave, Gompa crossing place of Tangbe, Chhuksang and reaches Chele (3030m). Walking time takes about 6 hours, overnight at camp.
8th Day: Chele – Geling
From Chele, trail leads ascending and descending to Samar. After that it climbs above Samar to a ridge, descends into a large gorge past a Chorten painted in red, black, yellow and white, all pigments made from local rock. From there one can enter another valley filled with juniper trees and drops to Bhena (3800m) and trail ascends through the place of Shangmochen to Geling (3440m). Walking time takes approximately 7 hours, overnight at camp.
9th Day: Geling – Charang
At the place of Geling, the trail climbs gently through field up the centre of the valley; it passes above Tama Gaon and its imposing Chorten. After crosses Tangmar Chu River, with a short climbing enters Churang (3490m). Walking time takes about 6 hours, overnight at camp.
10th Day: Charang – Lomanthang
Lomanthang is the capital city of upper Mustang. To reach Lomanthang (3730m) from Charang, trail leads descending about 125m and climbs steeply up a rock trail through a desert like landscape. Walking time takes about 5 hours, overnight at Lomanthang.
11th Day: Lomanthang – rest
In an extra day, one can visit to king's place, Gompa such as, Namgyal Gompa, Ghar Gompa, and one can collect different experience from that place different culture, tradition and different living style of people.
12th Day: Lomanthang – Ghami
At the place of Lomanthang, trail leads almost down through the place of Loliekar, Ghar Gompa, and Dhakmar to Ghami. Walking time takes about 7 hours, overnight at camp.
13th Day: Ghami – Samar
From Ghami, trail leads to back through the same trail of this place Tama Gaon to Samar. Walking time takes about 6 hours, overnight at camp.
15th Day: Kagbeni – Jomsom
From Kagbeni, trail leads to Jomsom almost flat through Eklai Bhatti,. Walking time takes about 4 hours, overnight at camp.
16th Day: Jomsom – Pokhara
From Jomsom flight backs to Pokhara.
